Since my old CJ is going under the knife this winter anyway, I thought it might be a good time to look at the front suspension.

I think you all know my CJ has a shackle reversal in the front, with spring-over RE 1.5" springs.

My issue: on steep climbs, it feel like the front end is trying to walk out from under me. Really steep and sometimes loose climbs can get the front end hopping pretty bad. It almost feels like spring wrap, but I'm not really under a lot of power at the time. The arched RE springs are supposed to help with that as well.

I'm wondering if the front shackles are swinging forward and lifting the front end? Anyone else ever run a shackle reversal and have similar issues?

I may just turn the springs around, with the shackles back on the front. I haven't seen you guys running this way having the same issues. You have others :-D

I'd like to keep the shackle reversal, if I can just change up how things are mounted. Take a look at my SOA gallery (HERE) to see how it is set up, and offer any advice you can!

BTW: the only "geometry" thing I can think of is how high the front mount is compared to the spring eye in the shackle. Look closely at this pic:
